There was something here
El proyecto There was something here once se articula en torno a la tensión entre presencia y ausencia, entre lo que se conserva y lo que inevitablemente se pierde en cada traducción de la imagen. El proceso parte de dibujos manuales realizados con tintas, basados en contornos de elementos naturales previamente modificados en Photoshop. Estos dibujos fueron escaneados, pasando de lo matérico al píxel. Lo matérico se convierte en píxel, y en ese tránsito parte de la huella se diluye.
The project There was something here once is articulated around the tension between presence and absence, between what is preserved and what is inevitably lost in each translation of the image. The process starts from manual drawings made with inks, based on contours of natural elements previously modified in Photoshop. These drawings were scanned, passing from the material to the pixel. The material becomes pixel, and in that transit part of the trace is diluted.
El escaneo fija, pero también borra; selecciona y excluye. La imagen digital resultante se convierte en una huella de lo que hubo, un rastro de lo que ya no puede recuperarse en su forma original. A partir de uno de esos escaneos se realizó una tirada risográfica. Sobre esas impresiones se intervino mediante serigrafía, añadiendo una frase breve que funciona como testimonio poético de lo perdido, una declaración que señala lo que estuvo y ya no está.
El resultado es un objeto expandido en el que conviven múltiples capas —manual, digital, impresa y textual—. Más que representar la desaparición, la obra la activa como experiencia visual. Cada copia funciona como testimonio parcial de una imagen que nunca fue estable ni definitiva, afirmando la importancia del error, el residuo y la fragilidad como parte constitutiva de la creación contemporánea.

The scanning fixes, but also erases; selects and excludes. The resulting digital image becomes a trace of what was, a trail of what can no longer be recovered in its original form. From one of those scans, a risographic print run was made. On those prints, intervention was carried out through screen printing, adding a brief phrase that functions as a poetic testimony of what was lost, a declaration that points out what was there and is no longer.
The result is an expanded object in which multiple layers coexist —manual, digital, printed and textual—. More than representing disappearance, the work activates it as a visual experience. Each copy functions as a partial testimony of an image that was never stable nor definitive, affirming the importance of error, residue and fragility as a constitutive part of contemporary creation.
