Re-definir el paisaje
El proyecto Re-definir el paisaje fue concebido para el contexto de la Bienal de la Habana, Horizontes Comparticos, en Cuba en 2024 como una intervención de gran formato que replantea la relación entre imagen, material y espacio. La obra se construyó a partir de impresiones modulares sobre papel, que posteriormente fueron ensambladas hasta cubrir la totalidad de un muro, transformando la superficie arquitectónica en un soporte pictórico expandido.
The project Re-define the Landscape was conceived for the context of the Havana Biennial, Horizontes Comparticos, in Cuba in 2024 as a large-scale intervention that rethinks the relationship between image, material and space. The work was constructed from modular prints on paper, which were subsequently assembled until they covered the entirety of a wall, transforming the architectural surface into an expanded pictorial support.
Este procedimiento permitió que la imagen dejara de estar contenida en un formato convencional para desplegarse como experiencia envolvente. El ensamblaje de módulos no fue únicamente una solución técnica, sino también una estrategia conceptual: cada fragmento, al unirse con los demás, subrayaba la condición construida del paisaje y la posibilidad de repensar su forma a través de la fragmentación y la recomposición.
La obra se inscribe en una reflexión sobre la pintura expandida y los procesos gráficos contemporáneos, donde lo digital se convierte en punto de partida para una experiencia material y espacial. En este sentido, Re-definir el paisaje no solo muestra una imagen, sino que convierte el acto mismo de habitarla y componerla —recorrerla con la mirada y el cuerpo— en parte de su significado. El paisaje aparece, así como una construcción mutable, colectiva y abierta, capaz de adaptarse al espacio y de dialogar con la memoria del lugar donde se exhibe.

This procedure allowed the image to cease being contained in a conventional format and to unfold as an immersive experience. The assembly of modules was not merely a technical solution, but also a conceptual strategy: each fragment, when joined with the others, emphasized the constructed condition of the landscape and the possibility of rethinking its form through fragmentation and recomposition.
The work belongs to a reflection on expanded painting and contemporary graphic processes, where the digital becomes a point of departure for a material and spatial experience. In this sense, Re-define the Landscape not only shows an image, but turns the very act of inhabiting it and composing it — traversing it with the gaze and the body — into part of its meaning. The landscape thus appears as a mutable, collective and open construction, capable of adapting to the space and of dialoguing with the memory of the place where it is exhibited.
