New Habitats
New Habitats explora la convivencia de distintos acabados gráficos dentro de un mismo espacio de representación, generando una tensión productiva entre lo digital, lo matérico y lo industrial. La serie combina la risografía —con textura orgánica y su aceptación del error como valor estético— con vinilos cortados a partir de imágenes generadas por inteligencia artificial, cuya superficie pulida introduce un contraste disruptivo frente al grano del papel.
This series is created by using the same background image for all the pieces, providing the opportunity to craft various compositions within a shared visual space.
From a technical standpoint, the risography process involved an initial flat yellow ink layer, overlaid with a blue dot pattern. The resulting adhesive vinyl images were then assembled to form the final image, creating variations within the same setting and creating a dialogue between the dot pattern and the pixels.
El vinilo, se convierte aquí en un recurso artístico que altera la percepción del conjunto. Su capacidad de ser opaco, translúcido o transparente le permite velar, fragmentar o resaltar zonas específicas de la imagen, proponiendo una lectura que exige un recorrido visual pausado. La serie se construye sobre una imagen de base repetida en todas las piezas, lo que otorga cohesión interna, mientras que las variaciones en las capas de risografía y en las inserciones de vinilo modifican la imagen, generando paisajes que parecen familiares y, a la vez, extraños.
El proyecto plantea un espacio en el que los materiales hablan por sí mismos: la textura de la tinta, la fricción del papel y la superficie industrial del vinilo impreso conviven en un ensamblaje que convierte el proceso en parte esencial de la obra. El resultado no es una imagen cerrada, sino un territorio híbrido y mutable, en constante cambio.

The vinyl becomes an artistic resource that alters the perception of the whole. Its ability to be opaque, translucent or transparent allows it to veil, fragment or highlight specific areas of the image, proposing a reading that requires a slow, deliberate visual journey. The series is built on a base image repeated in all the pieces, which grants internal cohesion, while the variations in the risography layers and in the vinyl insertions modify the image, generating landscapes that seem familiar and, at the same time, strange.
The project proposes a space in which the materials speak for themselves: the texture of the ink, the friction of the paper and the industrial surface of the printed vinyl coexist in an assemblage that makes the process an essential part of the work. The result is not a closed image, but a hybrid and mutable territory, in constant change.
