Dos Gardenias
Dos Gardenias traduce el contraste entre la simulación digital del trazo y la gestualidad espontánea de la pintura. La serie parte de imágenes previamente trabajadas en entorno digital, donde se simularon texturas y pinceladas, para después trasladarlas a pintura sobre papel, utilizando técnicas como Gelly Print y capas matéricas que enfatizan lo pictórico. En este tránsito, lo digital deja de ser modelo a imitar para convertirse en punto de fricción, el gesto de la mano no puede ni quiere ser idéntico al trazo de la pantalla, sino que lo reinterpreta, lo contradice y lo amplifica.
Dos Gardenias translates the contrast between the digital simulation of the stroke and the spontaneous gesturality of the painting. The series starts from images previously worked in a digital environment, where textures and brushstrokes were simulated, to then transfer them to painting on paper, using techniques such as Gelly Print and material layers that emphasize the pictorial. In this transit, the digital ceases to be a model to imitate to become a point of friction, the gesture of the hand cannot and does not want to be identical to the stroke of the screen, but rather reinterprets it, contradicts it and amplifies it.
Dos Gardenias plantea así una reflexión sobre la singularidad del gesto en la era digital. Mientras la pantalla ofrece trazos replicables y editables hasta el infinito, la pintura insiste en la huella única, en la resistencia del soporte y en la potencia del error. Entre ambos lenguajes no se establece oposición, sino un campo expandido donde lo simulado y lo material conviven, redefiniendo el lugar de la pintura en la contemporaneidad.
Se concibió para la Carpeta de Obra Gráfica de La Habana, en el marco de la 35 Bienal de la Habana, Horizontes Compartidos.

Dos Gardenias thus poses a reflection on the singularity of the medium in the digital era. While the screen offers replicable and editable strokes to infinity, the painting insists on the unique trace, on the resistance of the support and on the power of the error. Between both languages no opposition is established, but an expanded field where the simulated and the material coexist, redefining the place of the painting in the contemporaneity.
It was conceived for the Graphic Work Folder of Havana, in the framework of the 35 Bienal of Havana, Shared Horizons.
